Laurie Winslow Sargent, Author

Laurie Winslow Sargent has enjoyed writing for over 30 years. She has contributed to 22 magazines and 17 books, including two of her own. Releasing July 25, 2023 is REAWAKENED WORLDS, Volume One: Vintage Dystopian Sci-Fi from a Master Storyteller, by John Hayden Howard. Sargent compiled and edited the book.

REAWAKENED WORLDS is an engaging collection of eight clever short stories and novelettes, written by internationally-known John Hayden Howard in the 1950s and 1960s. He is best known for his stories in magazines, including Galaxy Science Fiction, IF Worlds of Science Fiction, and in his novel that was a 1967 Nebula finalist.

Sargent, known in the past primarily as a parenting author and inspirational writer, has now become immersed in family legacy projects, based on unique materials inherited from her family estate. Those materials include the original manuscripts of John Hayden Howard, also well known to science fiction readers as Hayden Howard. (See the science fiction tab here at CrossConnectMedia.com for blog posts and book event updates.)

Other fascinating ephemera Sargent inherited with historical significance and intrigue are diaries, letters and photographs telling the true story of an American couple in 1920s to 1930s British Raj India. Sargent’s work on that book is a work in progress. (See the Jungle Diaries tab.)

The author also enjoys writing true stories about remarkable answered prayers, featured in Chicken Soup for the Soul books and others.

Sargent resides with her husband in NE Florida, near St. Augustine, where Hayden wrote many of the stories in REAWAKENED WORLDS. They are the proud parents of three remarkable human beings and grandparents of five little ones.

A directory of her blog posts by topic are at Journo Portfolio.

For a list of books and magazines Sargent has contributed to, see the Publications page.

Laurie Winslow Sargent is the author of Delight in Your Child's Design and The Power of Parent-Child Play, has contributed stories to a dozen other books, and has had articles in national magazines with 300,000 to one million readers. Radio interviews with Laurie have aired in 48 U.S. states and abroad. Her current nonfiction book in progress is based on 1920s to 1930s expat experiences of an American couple in British Raj India. She is also executor for the original manuscripts of Hayden Howard, award-winning 1960s author.
